The Glam skin Clinic

Hi everyone! I am Dr. Anshu Aggarwal – a clinical dermatologist and founder The Glam Skin Clinic, in Chandigarh. I have been lucky enough to work with hundreds of women over the last 16 years – every woman has her own story, her areas of concern, and her hopes for better and healthier skin. If there is one line I hear over and over again in my practice, it is this:

“Doctor, I don’t want to be ‘fair’ – I just want to get my natural glow back. I want to feel my skin bright, fresh, and even.”

And you know what? I completely understand. Because the desire for clear, confident skin is not about not being you – that is about being you again.

So today, I want to talk about something I seem to be asked about almost daily: Skin Whitening Laser Treatments. I want to talk about what they are (and are not), who can have them, and how we are doing them safely and scientifically at The Glam Skin Clinic.

Let's Reframe the Word "Whitening

I’ll say it straight out: the terms “skin whitening” catch us unawares. I’d rather use more descriptive words such as skin brightening, pigmentation reduction, or even clarity to the skin restored. Because what we’re doing is reversing the damage, not altering your very own natural tone.

As a resident of a tropical country, the perpetual battles against pollution, acne spots, melasma, sunspots, and tanning can wreak havoc on the skin. In keeping the skin healthy through a skincare regimen, the skin sometimes could use a little extra care, and that’s where laser treatment comes in.

What is Skin Whitening Laser Treatment?

At Glam Skin Clinic, I use Q-switched Nd: YAG laser—a scientifically studied, FDA-approved system that selectively targets excess melanin in the deeper layers of your skin. Simply put, it breaks down excess pigmentation into very small pieces so that your body eliminates them naturally over time.
It’s safe, effective, and ideal for Indian skin types—except when performed with care and expertise.

Who Is It For?

You could be the perfect candidate if you’re tired of:

  • Post-acne pigmentation

  • Sun tan or brown spots

  • Melasma (hormonal melasma)

  • Uneven skin tone

  • Tired, worn-out-looking skin

I always like to clarify: this treatment doesn’t bleach your skin beyond its natural hue. It simply evens out, removing what doesn’t belong there—pore-log-jamming pigment that built up as a result of damage, hormones, or lifestyle.

What to Expect During the Procedure

Here’s a brief overview of what occurs in the clinic:

Consultation First
We begin with a complete examination of your skin to determine the reason and degree of pigmentation.

Gentle Cleansing
Your skin is prepared and thoroughly cleansed.

Laser Session
A Q-switched laser is swept over areas to be treated. You may have a quick tingling sensation—most individuals find it highly tolerable.

Post-Treatment Care
A relaxing serum or mask is then used to calm the skin. No downtime, and you can carry on with your day.

Is It Safe? What About Side Effects?

Done correctly, yes—it’s extremely safe. At my clinic, we use FDA-approved machines with an inbuilt triple cooling feature in trying to protect your skin and eliminate pain.

You’re going to experience a tiny amount of redness at the end of the session, which fades in a few hours. No peeling, no flaking, no drama.

How Many Sessions Is It?

Depends on the issue. Generally:

  • Mild tan or patchy color → 2–3 sessions

  • Melasma or dark pigmentation → 5–6 sessions

  • Optional maintenance every 4–6 months

Each session is about 3–4 weeks apart.

Aftercare Tips That I Always Provide

  • Sunscreen is your BFF – every day and high-end.

  • Don’t scrub or exfoliate for 3–4 days.

  • Softer, hydrating products to aid in healing the skin.

No parlour facials or harsh treatments throughout treatment.

Let's Bust Some Myths

Having witnessed this treatment transform lives (and self-esteem), I also feel I must bust some myths:

  • It won’t bleach your skin. It removes pigmentation, not personality.

  • It does take time. You will require several sessions to get the maximum benefits.

It isn’t nasty on Indian skin. Properly done, it is one of the safest procedures on darker skin.

Year after year, I’ve realized that skin care is all about nothing to do with equipment or serums—it is about understanding the individual behind the skin.

At  The Glam Skin Clinic:

  • Each treatment is personalized, not copied.

  • We utilize only FDA-authorized lasers and medicine-safe methods.

  • I deal with every case, from consultation to follow-up.

And we listen to you. Your aims are as important as your safety.

My Last Words

Lightening your skin does not mean you’re becoming whiter—it’s about achieving brighter, fresher, clearer skin where you feel comfortable in your skin. So if you’ve had a problem with pigmentation or dull skin, then we must talk. There’s no pushing or anything like that—you’ll receive sensible advice and a treatment program that fits you.

Because beautiful skin is your right, not a privilege
